Virtual Mindfulness and Mobility Classes for BC

Soldier On, in partnership with PSP at 19-Wing Comox, will be offering four weekly virtual sessions of Mindfulness and Mobility on February 3-24 at 8:30-9:30 p.m. These 60-minute sessions will include mobility exercises, gentle yoga stretching, breathing and meditation.

Participants will learn strategies to decrease muscle tension, relax, and alleviate stress. This event is open to all levels of experience and will be tailored to meet the needs of the participants.

This virtual event is open to Soldier On members in all BC regions.

This activity will bring together up to 12 serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

This activity is open to all levels of fitness and experience. The instructors will follow a gentle, relaxing approach to movement and mobility, with the goal of equipping participants with techniques to care for their mind and body.

The activity will include:
  • One hour of virtual mindfulness and mobility training; and
  • The event will be delivered using the ZOOM platform.
Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of PSP at 19-Wing Comox.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

Minimum eligibility criteria
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) residing in all regions of British Columbia who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving Members
Medical clearance may be required by your chain of command.

Mental & Physical Requirements
  • Participants must be able to tolerate one hour of light-paced activities per weekly session for weeks in a row.
    • Due to the activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the session.
  • Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a virtual social environment.
  • This is a virtual event, and participants should be comfortable using internet and video calling platforms.
    • Participants will need a stable internet connection, device which supports the ZOOM software, and a web camera.
Nomination Forms must be received by Soldier On no later than the 25th of January, 2022.
